Step 2: Mark your working area

Use a mini flag or a stone to mark where you intend to install the light pole. After that, lay your cable from the power pack to the stone or mini flag. Use string/spray paint (of a different color from the one used by the local utility company) to mark the area where the cable will go through.

Also, make sure to leave at least 4 feet between your working area and any obstacles, e.g., sidewalks, shrubs, or trees, and any mark made by the utility company. If your cable has to cross a footpath, make the string or spray paint markings across the footpath and continue to the pole location.

This will help direct you to the finishing point while avoiding possible accidents caused by obstacles or existing buried wires.
